Our Operations Team is growing and we're seeking a Yard Support Operative to maintain efficient organisation and running of the yard at our Distribution Centre. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Fareham. 

As Yard Support Operative, you will be responsible for the efficient management, safety, and organization of the yard, including the loading and unloading of vehicles. The role involves operating manual handling equipment as needed, providing assistance to drivers, and supporting the Goods In/Replenishment departments.

What will I be doing?

• Unloading and Loading of Vehicles:
  • Monitoring pallets and stock for damage prior to unloading.
  • Communicating with the Goods In team to report issues and ensure the correct pallets are being unloaded.

• Yard Organization:
  • Maintaining a clean and organized yard environment.
  • Ensuring empty pallets are properly color-coded and defective pallets are separated from usable stock.
  • Keeping yard bins accessible and prepared for collection.

• Safety:
  • Adhering to all safety protocols and site procedures.
  • Following the “clean as you go” policy.
  • Reporting any accidents or near misses to the supervisor promptly.
  • Working in accordance with training and safety standards.

• Vehicle Control:
  • Ensuring vehicles are parked within designated lines.
  • Ensuring vehicles are moving at appropriate speeds.
  • Coordinating with drivers to optimize turnaround times to support yard efficiency.

• Other Duties:
  • Assisting the Goods In and Replenishment teams with put-away and replenishment tasks.

How will I be measured?

Key Metrics and Targets:

• Maintain the quality and organization of yard and storage areas.
• Complete pre-operation checks daily for all mechanical handling equipment (MHE) used.
